Most guests don't decide between your website and Booking.com. They decide whether your website feels as easy and as safe as the platform they already know. Make it feel that way and direct bookings follow.

The first screen

  • A photo that shows the stay, not the façade: the room at golden hour, breakfast on the terrace.
  • One sentence that says what you are and where: “Six rooms among the olive trees, twenty minutes from the sea.”
  • Dates, guests and a Book button, visible on a phone without scrolling.

Rooms and prices

  • A page or section for every room, with several photos, size, beds and what's included.
  • Real prices, or at least “from” prices. Guests leave when they can't find a number.
  • The same Book button on every room, taking the guest straight to that room.

Trust

  • Your Google rating and a few recent reviews, shown near the Book button.
  • Clear cancellation terms, written plainly.
  • A real name and a face: who will welcome them.
  • A secure, fast website. If it looks out of date, guests assume the house is too.

Language

Add the languages your guests actually speak. Check your reservations from last year: if a quarter came from Germany, a German version isn't a luxury. Have each translation checked by a person, and give each language its own pages so Google can show them to the right people.

Phones

Most hotel searches happen on phones. Open your website on yours, on mobile data, and time it. If the first screen takes more than a few seconds, or if the text needs zooming, that's the first thing to fix.

Questions

Guests ask the same ten questions: parking, check-in times, breakfast, children, pets, distance to the beach. Answer them on the page, and make it easy to ask the rest, with WhatsApp, a quick form or an AI concierge that answers at any hour.

Google

  • Your Google Business Profile links to your website and booking page.
  • Photos are recent, and every review gets a short, human reply.
  • Each page has a clear title and description in its own language.

Make the benefits of booking direct obvious

Tell guests plainly what they get when they book direct with your hotel: the best available rate, breakfast or a late check-out, a direct line to you before arrival, flexible changes. A short line beside the Book button is enough.

After the stay

A short thank-you email does three jobs. It asks every guest for a review, not only the happy ones. It tells them they can book directly next time. And it keeps the conversation with you rather than with a platform.

Where to start if you only have an hour: put a Book button on your first screen, add your “from” prices, and answer the five most common questions on your homepage.
