1. The Book button is hard to find

If it's hidden in a menu or at the bottom of the page, guests won't look for it. Put dates and a Book button on the first screen, and repeat it on every room.

2. Booking sends guests somewhere else

A button that says “Book on Booking.com” on your own website hands the commission straight back. Link to your own booking engine or a request form instead.

3. Only one language

A foreign guest reads two lines in a language they don't understand and leaves. Translate the pages that matter, properly.

4. No prices

“Contact us for prices” sounds exclusive; it reads as effort. Show prices, or at least “from” prices per room.

5. Slow on a phone

Oversized photos and old plugins can make a homepage take ten seconds to appear on mobile data. Most guests won't wait.

6. Questions only by phone or email

Guests plan in the evening. If the only way to ask about parking is to call during office hours, the platform wins. Add WhatsApp, a quick form or an AI concierge.

7. Photos that don't sell the stay

A façade in flat midday light doesn't make anyone want to stay. Show the room, the view from the bed, breakfast on the terrace.

8. No reviews

Platforms show hundreds of reviews. If your website shows none, guests go back to read them there, and book there. Show your Google rating and a few recent reviews.

9. It looks the way it did in 2014

Guests judge the house by the website. An outdated design makes a lovely place look tired, and makes paying on your website feel risky.
